2009/2010 Ballot Measures and Legislation

Legislation

The Pacific Green Party recently finished its lobbying work in the 2009 legislative session with a big win for Senate Bill 326, which makes it easier for voters to participate in minor party and independent candidate campaigns. PGP Secretary of State candidate Seth Woolley was the only public citizen to show up to the hearing in support of the bill and exerted third party spoiling pressure to get it passed. HB2414, a cross-endorsement bill, was merged into it before passage. Multiple IRV bills were introduced. Democrat Richard Devlin ensured the IRV bills never got through his committee. If you're interested in IRV, please contact IRVoregon.org. Greens also supported tax fairness bills, some of which were up against recall campaigns. We will update this page as more information becomes available.

Ballot Measures

We were a member of the Defend Oregon Coalition. The Pacific Green Party thanks everyone who voted YES on Measures 66 and 67 in the January special election! Through your efforts these measures were passed!

One Ballot Measure in particular interests Greens.  Campaign Finance Reform Measure 47 was passed last time around.  Now we're working to get the Measure 46 equivalent passed that would Constitutionally protect the implementation of Measure 47.  See FairElections.net for more information.

There are two marijuana initiatives of interest, as well.  A Medical Cannibis Dispensary bill that will likely be on the ballot and the Oregon Cannibis Tax Act (legalization) that looks like it won't qualify.  Pacific Greens support both initiatives.
